West Salem Insane Asylum

To the left is an article clipping from the La Crosse daily newspaper. The article discusses the issues as to what happened with the farm land that was associated with the original insane asylum.

On March 3rd 1987 an article written by Gary Radloff of the La Crosse Tribune staff wrote an article dealing with the ongoing issues of the original farmland that was in alliance with the original institution of the West Salem Insane Asylum.  Below is an excerpt from the article.

"La Crosse County has operated a farm for 101 years. But a couple of roll call votes at thursdays county board meeting may drastically change the Lakeview's county farm. The board will reconsider a set of resolutions to sell off a part of the farm at west salem and change the use of the rest of the land. Declining profits at the farm and changing land use in the west salem area are prompting county board members to make these changes."
