West Salem Insane Asylum

The article below illustrates what the small town of west salem goes through financially, as well as socially to back their new health care facility. Essentially it is broken up into two sections with the image being projected as both the new and old institutions standing together, on the same lot of land.

While the first section of the article seems more negative in regards to the social and financial status of the small town of west salem, the second half of the page, looks at the new institution as a more positive beneficial addition to the town.

To the right an article from the La Crosse Tribune states that the original West Salem Insane Asylum is to be assessed for  demolition during the year of 1976

The article below was issued on June 4th 1972 from the La Crosse Tribune. The spread is a compilation of three people's opinions in regards to the New Lakeview.

The third article located on the page below is written by John M Thomas Chairman of the county board. Pictured in the bottom right corner. In this article he is for the new Lakeview.
